What action have you taken to comply with RTE Act, Art 21 A? HC asks UP

  • Around 29 cases have been filed against different private schools of the state for indulging in “arbitrary fee hike” by them including those in Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad and Kanpur, etc. These were clubbed with the writ petition 46207 filed by Shailendra Kumar Singh of Ghaziabad and others against 12 respondents in 2017.

  • “All efforts appear to have gone in vain. No policy has yet been framed by the state government for establishment of school within area or limit of neighbourhood so that all children get access to free and compulsory education. The duty cast upon the state government and the local authority under the Act 2009 appears to have not been performed,” it reads directing the counsel of the of the state government and principal secretary (Secondary Education), Lucknow, to file counter affidavit bringing on record the steps taken by the state government to comply the mandate of the Act 2009.
